Who Are We?

 The Conservation Alternative Story

The Conservation Alternative is a comprehensive proposal for how all aspects of Manti-La Sal NF can be managed in light of limits required by climate change; for conservation of water, native plants, and wildlife; for tribal influence, and for responsiveness to the public.

Contributors to the Conservation Alternative

A number of conservation organizations, each with experience and expertise with different aspects of forest management, have been developing the Conservation Alternative since early 2019.

Why should the Conservation Alternative be in the Draft EIS in 2023?

The Conservation Alternative should be compared with Forest Service
alternatives for differing environmental consequences in the 2023 Draft
Environmental Impact Statement. This allows for public review and input and
informed decisionmaking by the Forest Service. The final forest plan can include
portions of more than one alternative.
